You are invited to visit the westernmost part of our vast country, the town of Baltiysk. It is only a couple of decades ago that Baltiysk hospitably held its arms out to numerous tourists.
Previously, even we, residents of Kaliningrad, could only get there once a year, on the Navy Day, and only using a special pass.
It takes quite some time by Kaliningrad standards to reach the town, but believe me, your journey will certainly not be boring. You will learn a lot of things about the checkered history of our region, admire the panorama of the Primorskaya Bay using binoculars, and visit the German memorial cemetery. Then, you will see Baltiysk itself and its attractions, such as the Citadel, the forts and, of course, warships of the Baltic Fleet.
To reward our stamina, on our way back, we will visit a real fishing collective farm, “Za Rodinu” (For the Motherland) where you will have a chance to buy fish delicacies. I can guarantee that when eating them at home you will warmly recollect the austere yet hospitable naval town of Baltyisk.
